Thousands turn out for action packed Longridge Soapbox Derby

Longridge came alive on Sunday as thousands of spectators lined the streets for the highly anticipated Longridge Soapbox Derby, a fun-packed day of racing, family activities and community spirit.

The event featured three exhilarating races, with soapbox teams tackling a challenging course complete with a giant pile of foam and five inflatable cows adding to the excitement.

Spectators were treated to an incredible range of carts, with teams showcasing their creativity through eye-catching designs inspired by everything from Thunderbirds to Mario Kart, and plenty more inventive builds that wowed the crowds.

Pendle Hill Properties added to the atmosphere by handing out 500 free branded flags, which visitors used to cheer on competitors throughout the day.

Beyond the racing action, families enjoyed a vibrant line-up of entertainment, including performances from a samba band, delicious offerings from local food stalls, and plenty of activities for all ages.

The Soapbox Derby was proudly organised by Love Longridge in support of St Catherine’s Hospice, with proceeds helping to fund vital care services provided by the charity.

This year’s event was generously sponsored by Raymond James, St Catherine’s Hospice Care and Spar – James Hall, whose backing helped ensure its success.

Tom Turner, Sales Director at Pendle Hill Properties, said: “At Pendle Hill Properties, we’re passionate about being part of the communities we serve, and the Longridge Soapbox Derby is a fantastic example of what makes this area so special.

“It brings people together, showcases incredible creativity and creates a real sense of fun and pride. We’re delighted to be involved in such a wonderful event and to support the community spirit that makes Longridge thrive.”
