When John and Dot Waddicor first stumbled across Ribble Valley View in Old Langho, they had absolutely no plans to buy a holiday home. It was one of those “we’ll just have a look” kind of days. But from the moment they arrived, everything changed.
They saw the views, met the welcoming owners, and instantly fell in love with the place. That was 11 years ago – and they have never looked back.
Their lodge has become so much more than a holiday home. It’s their peaceful retreat, their summer haven, and a place full of memories. Despite the years, their lodge still looks just as good as the day they bought it – a real testament to the quality and care at Ribble Valley View.
The outdoor seating area is their favourite spot – the perfect place to relax, take in the scenery, and watch the wildlife.
John and Dot spend around six months a year at the luxury lodge park during the summer, and the rest of the year abroad. But when they are there, it’s like being on holiday every single day. The views are unbeatable, the peace and tranquillity are unmatched, and they’ve made wonderful friends. Their neighbours are fantastic – it really is everything they could wish for.

The park offers a carefully designed collection of luxury holiday lodges, each blending countryside charm with modern comfort. A Community and a Lifestyle
The Simpson family, who run Ribble Valley View, have created something really special. Being a family-run business, you always know who you’re talking to, and they go out of their way to make you feel at home. That warm, personal touch means a lot to John and Dot.
Transport is easy too – there’s a bus stop right at the bottom of the park, and taxis are no trouble, making it simple to explore nearby villages and towns like Whalley.
Food and drink? You’re spoiled for choice. The Black Bull pub is right at the entrance to the lodge park – the food is lovely, the garden is perfect in summer, and the staff are brilliant. Just a 10-minute walk away in Brockhall, you’ll find a lovely café for coffee and light bites.
If you enjoy walking, the area is a dream. From woodland trails to riverside walks over to Hurst Green or down to Dinckley, there’s a route for every pace and mood.
Would we change a thing? Not a chance.
John said: “To anyone even thinking about owning a lodge at Ribble Valley View – don’t hesitate. It’s never too early to make the move. We didn’t expect to do it ourselves, but once we saw Ribble Valley View, the decision made itself.
“Would we do it all again? Absolutely. Would we change anything? Not a thing.
“As far as we’re concerned, this is the number one place to be. Ribble Valley View has everything – and then some.”
